Position Summary: 

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, creating, and developing informal and formal learning solutions to meet organizational needs. The successful candidate will have strengths in instructional design, proficiency with multimedia development and major authoring tools, skills in developing interactive e-learning and video, adaptive e-learning, simulations, with solid project management skills, and experience working with Learning Management Systems.Designs, creates, and develops informal and formal learning solutions in a blended learning environment, including classroom, instructor led, virtual led and e-learning.

  • Selects, modifies, or creates an appropriate design and plan for a given project, identifies and documents measurable learning objectives and business outcomes.
  • Creates logical learning units/objects as appropriate; designs or builds assets (such as role plays, self-assessment tests, job aids).
  • Must be able to create interactive engaging e-learning in using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 2, Captivate, etc.

Must be able to create project plans and maintain them for each project.

  • Uses a variety of techniques for determining instructional content of curriculum or program; creates or partners with others to plan and design the curriculum or program.
  • Proactively identifies appropriate evaluation techniques and applies them, such as summative and formative evaluation, four levels of evaluation, usability testing, etc.; conducts appropriate test and revision cycles to assess and test the learning design solution and its impact; assesses whether the learning design solution produces positive results, such as change in learner attitude, skill, knowledge, and behavior.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 3-5 years instructional design experience; Degree in Instructional Design (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and techniques
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and methods such as ADDIE, SAM, Agile
  • Knowledge of various delivery options/media, such as instructor led training, virtual instructional led training and e-learning, etc.
  • Experience in developing engaging interactive learning solutions
  • Experience in creating engaging classroom learning solutions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of assessment methods and formats, such as multiple choice, hands-on, open-ended response, etc.
  • Knowledge and ability to implement various evaluation levels
  • Knowledge of learning technologies and support systems, such as collaborative learning software, learning management systems, and authoring tools
  • Knowledge of new and emerging learning technologies and support systems
  • Experience working with Cornerstone OnDemand Learning Management System
  • (Preferred) Experience creating application demos and simulations using Articulate or any other comparable application
  • (Preferred) Experience building advanced learning activities, adaptive testing, games, and simulations using applications, ActionScript, or another scripting language
  • (Preferred) Experience coding interactive content and responsive web with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and SharePoint
