Position Summary: 

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic partner and key member of the leadership team who serves as consultant to management on HR-related issues, an employee champion, and a change agent for the designated business unit(s). S/he also serves as a liaison for the Human Resources Department by assessing and anticipating HR-related needs and communicating those needs proactively to seek and develop integrated solutions that align with business objectives. HRBPs provide support in the following areas: organizational development, workforce planning, staffing, employee relations, performance management and coaching, organizational learning and development, teambuilding, change management, succession planning, total rewards, and compliance. The successful HRBP maintains an effective level of literacy about the business unit’s financial position, mid-range plans, culture and competition.
  • Acts as the single point of contact for the designated business unit to either deliver or broker services that address issues pertinent to HR and business unit alignment, organizational effectiveness, and/or leadership capabilities.
  • Gathers and maintains a broad understanding of HR and business concepts, methods and practices. Gains and maintains in-depth understanding of business unit by focusing on business issues rather than limiting focus to employee issues. Demonstrates business acumen by applying a variety of technical competencies aimed at addressing business performance.
  • Provides trusted, independent counsel to the business unit as a leader with HR expertise and perspective to include HR policy guidance and interpretation; performance management guidance; productivity and retention initiatives; and employee engagement analysis.
  • Leads implementation of core HR programs into the business and provide business-specific feedback to the Human Resources Department for design and delivery improvement of field-ready solutions.
  • Partners with and coaches’ business leadership teams to facilitate organization and culture change. Acts as a catalyst for building organizational effectiveness within the business in a sustainable manner.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.  
  • Identifies development needs for business unit and individual executive coaching needs; monitor success of training programs; and provide guidance and input for workforce planning and succession planning.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a generalist capacity or a minimum of 10 years or generalist experience.
  • Experience with workforce planning, staffing, employee relations, performance management and coaching, organizational learning and development, teambuilding, change management, succession planning, compliance, experience with benefits, compensation and payroll preferred
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be skilled in use of analytical tools including Excel and SQL.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certifications preferred.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and process documents.
