Position Summary: 



Support the execution and implementation of the Data Governance framework focused on growing the footprint of governed data, formalizing data stewardship, accelerating data classification, and improving data quality. Apply knowledge of data governance to participate in projects, working groups, and discussions as the data governance subject matter expert. Monitor and assess adherence to data governance guiding principles and data policies continuously, make recommendations for improvement, and grow adoption of the PRA Group’s Data Governance Policy. The Data Governance Analyst I works closely with internal team members, business partners, and other stakeholders to gain an understanding of PRA Group’s data needs and supports the Data Governance Team’s response to those needsKey Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Partner with business units to define data and develop a standardized business glossary and meta data repository. 
  • Facilitate cross departmental resolution of data definitions, production and usage issues.
  • Assist in the documentation of new and existing data stores, the administration of data governance policies, and the maintenance of the enterprise data governance program.
  • Partner with key functional areas to ensure effective communication of Data Governance initiatives that support operational business needs.
  • Develop business use cases and create roadmaps for implementing master data governance, data classification/sensitivity and data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Define key performance indicators for various dimensions of data quality and produce scorecard for evaluating data quality, compliance with policies, standards, and roles and responsibilities.
  • Leverage coding and in house tools to develop data quality checks, profile data, identify issues and perform testing.
  • Serve as an SME for user community; assist with training of stewards.


Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, IT or related quantitative disciplines
  • 1+ year(s) experience in the following:
  • SQL
  • GitHub
  • Unix/Linux
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Effective communication skills and customer service approach.
  • Action-oriented and solution-driven and able to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Highly accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple development, administrative, and support projects simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Experience with:
    • SQL
    • Power BI
    • Shiny
    • GitHub
    • Diagram tools (Visio, Gliffy, Draw.io, LibreOffice Draw, etc.)
  • Data Warehouse dimensional modeling concepts (star, snowflake schema)
  • Transactional Entity-Relationship modeling (ERM)
  • Dashboard report development
  • Knowledge of consumer collection industry practices


Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in a collaborative office environment, in an individual work station, using telephone and computer.  Employee may be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
