Position Summary: 



The Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for the overall management of Data Engineering team and activities within assigned area. Activities included policy recommendations, employee development, capacity planning, process design, budgeting, and strategic planning.Manage data reporting projects from project design, business review with internal and external clients deriving requirements and deliverables, reception and processing of data, performing analyses, and modeling to final reports/presentations, communication of results and implementation support.

  • Drives methodology and governance to maintain data integrity within all aspect of reporting.
  • Creates repeatable processes to support development of modeling and reporting
  • Provide expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts used by the broader analytics team, to inspire the adoption of data intelligence, data science, and advanced analytics.
  • Follows industry trends within the field of data intelligence, data science, and businesses. Functions as the analytics expert in meetings with other internal areas and external vendors. Actively participates in proof of concept tests of new data, software and technologies.
  • Assures compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements during design and implementation of modeling and analysis projects.

Tests new statistical analysis methods, software, and data sources for continual improvement of quantitative solutions. Shares knowledge within Data and Analytics Department.




    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    Manage the Data Engineering reporting, consisting of five to seven team members. The team consist of both full-time and contract employees.
    The Manager, Data Engineering will apply highly developed analytical skills to work on all aspects of the analytical workflows, ranging from risk models, fraud detection, process triaging, and marketing predictions to a variety of other analytics solutions.
    The Manager, Data Engineering will also apply a high level of leadership experience, high energy level and business sense to communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors while effectively leading complex analytics projects.
    The Manager, Data Engineering will also ingest and wrangle data, propose analytics strategy, create related business cases, drive several large initiatives, build and implement solutions at scale and give presentations as a subject matter expert.


    Professional Experience/Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines.
    • 3+ year’s managing highly technical teams
    • 5+ years’ experience in the following:
      • SQL
      • R
      • RStudio
      • RStudio Connect
      • Python (2.x, 3.x)
    • GitHub version control
    • Data visualization (Power BI, Shiny, D3.js, Tableau, etc.)
    • CI/CD (Jenkins, Travis CI, Circle CI, etc.)
    • HDFS (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.)
    • Shell Scripting
    • Business Objects (Admin/Developer)
    • 5+ year(s) relational database reporting and modeling
    • 3+year(s) Agile development
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to effectively juggle multiple development, administrative, and support projects simultaneously.
    Preferred:

    • Master’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines
    • Data Warehouse dimensional modeling concepts
    • Transactional Entity-Relationship modeling (ERM)
    • An understanding of Decision Modeling Notation
    • Knowledge of consumer collection industry practices



    Work Environment:


    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in a collaborative office environment, in an individual work station, using telephone and computer.  Employee may be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
