Position Summary: 

Responsible for overall management of legal recovery activities. Activities include policy recommendations, employee development, capacity planning, process design, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Exhibit and demonstrate a leadership role that promotes the company and adheres to the highest ethical standards and management philosophies.
  • Responsible for overall legal collection goals with the ability to timely and accurately forecast production and cost for the department. 
  • Versed in current technology and actively versed in process design and innovation to improve current flows.
  • Examine and maintain proper inventory management.
  • Examine and review various reporting methods for legal activities.
  • Examines daily workload volumes to prioritize work efforts including queue management, attorney placement, account updates, audits and maintain productivity standards.
  • Create and oversee workflows
  • Oversee and assist with management of support staff
  • Direct and oversee employee development
  • Direct, guide and influence staff in handling all types of situations to determine the most profitable and effective method of operation.
  • Identify training issues, potential lost revenue and implement corrective action plans.
  • Full and consistent enforcement of company and legal department policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with SVP, VP and AVP to ensure all levels of management are abreast of current events.
  • Assist and oversee the flow of programming within the legal software and ticket system.
  • Work closely with the IT department regarding enhancements and/or issues involving the department directly.
  • Maintain relationship and work closely with external vendors when required.
  • Work closely with managing attorneys of the unit.
  • Able to accurately and effectively communicate policy and procedures via electronic mail, written memos and meetings. 
  • Represent the company, as required, in court, tribunals, or in meetings with legal representatives, attorneys or other personnel.  
  • Overnight travel may be required in this role.
  • Interact with compliance counsel to assure compliance of federal, state and local regulations.
  • Responsible for overseeing and approving hours worked for payroll of hourly employees.
  • Initiate or approve recommendations regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary changes and dismissals.
  • Determine staffing requirements based on budget guidance, prepare job descriptions for newly created positions and update current job descriptions as required.
  • Supervise several exempt managers, potentially up to 100+  non-supervisory non-exempt legal staff. 

Education and Experience

  • Minimum five years experience with a similar type of debt collection company, supervised legal representatives. 
  • Minimum of five or more years experience in high volume legal collections position with at least three years supervisory experience is highly desired.
