Position Summary: 



The Data Engineer IV is responsible for the overall management of Data Engineering, Analytical Reporting, and Activities within assigned area. Activities included policy recommendations, employee development, capacity planning, process design, budgeting, and strategic planning.Independently leads data reporting analysis projects from project/sample design, business review meetings with internal and external clients deriving requirements/deliverables, reception and processing of data, performing analyses and modeling to final reports/presentations, communication of results and implementation support. Create project milestone plans to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Provides high quality ongoing customer support; answering questions, resolving problems and building solutions.

  • Tests new statistical analysis methods, software and data sources for continual improvement of quantitative solutions. Shares knowledge within Data and Analytics Department.
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the enterprise data stewardship/data governance, along with collaborating with all applicable business units to construct an enterprise wide data dictionary.
  • Provide expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts used by the broader analytics team, to inspire the adoption of business intelligence, advanced analytics, and data science across the entire enterprise.
  • Follows industry trends in data science/analytical processes and businesses. Functions as the analytics expert in meetings with other internal areas and external vendors. Actively participates in proof of concept tests of new data, software and technologies.
  • Assures compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements during design and implementation of modeling and analysis projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:



Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative disciplines.
  • 3+ year’s managing highly technical teams
  • 8+ years’ experience in the following:
    • SQL
    • R
    • Python (2.7.x, 3.4.x)
  • Git
  • Docker
  • HDFS (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, Storm, Kafka, Sqoop, Nifi, etc.)
  • Unix shell
  • Business Objects (User)
  • 8+ year(s) relational database reporting and modeling
  • 3+year(s) Agile development
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple development, administrative, and support projects simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative disciplines
  • Data Warehouse dimensional modeling concepts (star, snowflake schema)
  • Transactional Entity-Relationship modeling (ERM)
  • An understanding of Decision Modeling Notation
  • An understanding of data stewardship and governance best practices
  • Dashboard report development (Power BI, R-Shiny, Shiny-Proxy, Tableau, etc.)
  • Knowledge of consumer collection industry practices

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in a collaborative office environment, in an individual work station, using telephone and computer.  Employee may be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
